The trucking industry consumes 12% of the national energy.
Mileage in an 18 wheeler
ranges from the low
5's to the mid 7's in miles-per-gallon. The trucks/individuals getting mid 7's can get into the 8 MPG
range with diverse
modifications costing about $7,500 - $10,000 per tractor-trailer. The 'pay-off' can easily be achieved within a year
or much less if team driving.
The race is on. Alternative fuels are coming of age. Biodiesel is refined from 'home-grown' veggetable oils and waste cooking oil.
We need to tell Chavez WHAT HE CAN DO WITH HIS OIL (he claims he will sell it all to China).
